Tourist or local experience: Which one would you choose?

Want a break from your super hectic life? What’s better than Travelling? Traveling is an enriching journey that broadens our horizons and shapes our perspective. Travel is food to your soul. So stop just scrolling through the photos of places you want to travel, shut down your phone, pack a bag, and create memories for a lifetime.

But what’s better, a “local’ experience or a “tourist” experience? Is it to visit world-renowned monuments to savor exotic delicacies or unravel some “off the beaten path” places? Let’s find out.

Places

TouristFor a reason it is famous! Get to know about some of the most iconic monuments in the world. Experience the culture, tradition, and technology of that country at its top through the prestigious heritage attractions. Learn about the colorful background and historical milestones that gave shape to that country. If you want a picturesque experience then these are your go-to spots.

Local – Skip a tourist attraction if you want to dive into the insight of that country’s tradition, culture, and local life. Discover the unheard stories and facts about that country from locals. If you enjoy aimless wandering and discovering some hidden gems then local experience is just for you.

Food

Tourist – Are you not so keen on experiencing new flavors? Well then go for customized cuisine from 5-star restaurants and indulge in the dishes specially prepared from the finest mixture of local tastes blended with the food of your choice.

Local – Hey there adventurous foodie! Is traveling for you is not complete without an unforgettable culinary experience? Then local vendors, traditional eateries, family-owned restaurants, local cafes, and traditional food festivals are a must. Taste the authentic taste of the region through these.

Activities

Tourist – If you are looking forward to a pre-planned, tailored trip then the tourist experience is just your vibe. Do you like to plan everything before and don’t want to waste a single second of your trip? Then pre-booked hotels to reserved adventure activities, relaxing spa sessions and guided excursions are especially for you.

Local – Are you a ‘go with the flow’ kind of person then go forward with local experience? Unplanned stops and activities often lead to some amazing memories. If an impromptu stop at a local café just because you were enchanted by the smell of freshly brewed coffee or a stop at a secluded beach just because you loved the breathtaking beauty and want to spend the rest of your day there is your thing then go with local experience.

Which is more fun (or expensive)

Tourist – Tourist experience carries a heftier price tag compared to the local experience. If you fancy an exclusive traveling experience then give a shot to the tourist experience.

Local – Local experience is more cost-effective. Go ahead with local experience if you are looking for a wallet-friendly trip.

Both ‘Travel’ and ‘Local’ experiences have their perks and falls but both are authentic and immersive ways of traveling. So what have you decided? And if want to experience both then no problem, create your own ‘Locourist’ experience.
